1. Who we are

BetweenBells is operated by Nikki Meadows trading as BetweenBells, a New Zealand sole trader.

2. What we collect and why

We collect only what we need to run the platform and process bookings. The table below summarises what we collect, who it comes from, and why.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect:

  • To operate the marketplace and process bookings.
  • To send transactional emails (booking received, accepted, declined, completed).
  • To process payments and payouts via Stripe.
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Who we share data with (sub-processors)

Some information is shared with third-party services that help us run BetweenBells. These are our sub-processors:

BetweenBells requires all sub-processors to maintain appropriate data protection standards.

Offshore transfer under the NZ Privacy Act 2020: some of your personal information is stored and processed outside New Zealand by the sub-processors listed above. By using BetweenBells, you consent to this transfer.

5. Cookies and tracking

  • BetweenBells uses a session cookie to keep logged-in providers signed in. This cookie is essential to the service.
  • Vercel Analytics collects anonymised, aggregated page view data. No personal identifiers are stored.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data retention

  • Booking and transaction records are retained for 7 years, to meet New Zealand financial record-keeping requirements.
  • Provider account data is retained for the life of the account, plus 7 years after the account is closed.
  • Customer booking data is retained for 7 years.
  • Waitlist email addresses are deleted 90 days after the platform launch announcement.
  • You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to the legal retention requirements above. See Section 8.

7. Security

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest using Supabase's default encryption.
  • Access to production data is limited to the platform operator.
  • Stripe handles all payment data. Card details never pass through BetweenBells' systems.

8. Your rights (NZ Privacy Act 2020)

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the following rights:

  • Right to access: you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to correction: you may request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Right to deletion: you may request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal retention requirements.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@betweenbells.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days, which is the statutory maximum.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email.
